Do you communicate with teachers and school counselors?
No. I firmly believe that, as part of my services, students must practice self-advocacy. I help my clients draft emails to their teachers, prepare for in-person conversations, etc. I have worked for Wilton Public Schools for over 11 years and know many of the staff members, including teachers and school counselors. Many parents of my students have reported increased confidence, organization, and proactiveness from practicing self-advocacy with me.
How quickly will I see improvement?
Every student is different. Many families notice increased confidence, improved organization, and stronger study habits within the first few sessions. Academic improvement often becomes visible within 4–8 weeks of consistent tutoring, depending on the student's goals, challenges, and level of commitment outside of sessions.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a complimentary Zoom consultation to discuss your student's academic needs, goals, challenges, and learning style. This allows us to determine whether Preceptor Services is the right fit before scheduling sessions.
What makes Preceptor Services different from other tutoring companies?
Unlike large tutoring centers, Preceptor Services provides highly personalized, one-on-one academic support tailored to each student's unique needs. As a former Director of Admissions and experienced educator, I take a comprehensive approach that goes beyond academics. I focus on building confidence, executive functioning skills, organization, accountability, study strategies, and long-term academic success. Families work directly with me throughout the entire process rather than being assigned different tutors. I also maintain ongoing communication with parents, track progress through individualized academic plans, and provide support that extends beyond tutoring sessions when appropriate.
What grades do you work with?
I work with students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, undergraduate college students, and graduate-level students pursuing Master's degrees. I also provide support for Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
How long are tutoring sessions?
Standard sessions are 60 minutes. Extended 90-minute sessions and customized session lengths are available upon request.
Do you help with long-term projects?
Absolutely. I assist students with essays, research papers, science fair projects, presentations, internships, capstone projects, and other long-term academic assignments.
Do you offer college application support?
Yes. As a former Director of Admissions, I bring firsthand experience from both sides of the admissions process. Through my comprehensive College Counseling Program, I provide support with college selection, applications, essays, resumes, interviews, admissions strategy, etc.
What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. Same-day cancellations will be charged the full session fee.
Do you update parents on student progress?
Yes. Session updates are provided via text message, and optional monthly parent meetings are available. Parents are also encouraged to join the beginning or end of sessions for progress updates. Each student receives a personalized Google Sheet that tracks grades, academic goals, assignments, upcoming assessments, and overall progress.
Do you assign homework or practice work?
Optional practice assignments may be provided based on family preference and student needs. Assignments are typically light and focus on reinforcing academic concepts, strengthening executive functioning skills, and preparing for upcoming assessments.
Do you support students with IEPs and 504 Plans?
Yes. I have extensive experience working with students who have IEPs, 504 Plans, learning differences, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and other individualized learning needs.
Do you offer urgent or last-minute tutoring?
Yes. Based on availability, emergency and last-minute sessions may be accommodated. Existing recurring clients receive scheduling priority. Virtual tutoring via Zoom is also available.
Do you offer summer tutoring?
Absolutely. Summer tutoring helps students maintain academic skills, prevent learning loss, strengthen foundational concepts, and prepare for the upcoming school year. Summer is also an excellent time to focus on executive functioning skills, standardized test preparation, enrichment, and college planning.
